Fun!

Nothing makes pictures more rewarding or enjoyable than fun – the process of fun, pictures of fun and memories of fun.

Fun inherently includes harmony, light hearts and appreciation. And fun is high on the list of how we like to spend our time.

So to do our best for you, Steven Michael’s strives to make the whole process fun. (Yeah, there’s details to watch, but the motto is “rise to the call and go with the flow.” )

Here are some ideas and modeled situations that can help you set goals for an easy, fun process that gets ‘er done.

Family Portraits

Consider all the options instead of just coming to the studio for a posed group picture.

A portrait can be made outdoors on our eight acres or another nearby site. We can capture your objects of affection at your home or a favorite retreat location. We can travel out to numerous get-away spots. And you can make a day trip for good times together as part of the process. See our Adventure Calendar (click here) for details and dates.

Steven Michael’s regularly goes out to top locations across Eastern Oklahoma to produce exceptional family and chilren’s portraits. The reasons are many:

  • We get portraits at interesting, unique and fun locations.
  • The family gets the time together to adverture and explore.
  • The travel / adventure process helps produce a harmony for all to participate.
  • And it’s more fun than just posing for a happy picture in a studio.

Consider family pets. Most people tell me I can never get a picture of their dog / cat. I disagree. If they’re part of the family and I can catch great portraits of children all week long. I can catch the pets too.

Consider a themed portrait. Besides coordinated clothing, themes can include a day at the ballpark, on the ranch, at the orchard, on the golf course, at the lake fishing or boating, walking in a field of wild flowers, or on a picnic. The list is endless. And any good idea contributes to great, memorable and fun portraits. Make all of life an adventure. Call to explore the possibilities.

Children’s Portraits

Imagination is a child’s domain. When we join them there for portraits, it opens a door to a greater potential. We go beyond documenting a face. We set the stage for a full range of expressions and body language. Each child is different, but most really enjoy exploring something new or spending time with familiar and favorite toys, places or people.

Consider all their favorites (toys, games, locations, songs, snugglies, etc.) Maybe use granddad as a prop. A day in the park, on the swing, in the sprinkler, picking flowers, watching a lady buy, or drawing with chalk on the sidewalk all make great pictures, depending on age. Opening the mind and heart to enter that next level is fun. We hope you’ll find it time well spent.

Go for the wild. So many settings lend themselves to action oriented images as well as traditional portraits. It can take more work on our part (photographer and parents), but it’s worth it. This is when we have to loosen our expectations and need to control (not throw them away completely). Clear communications save sweat and frustration. The rewards can be exceptional.

Listening to children, watching them closely and tuning in to our intuition are the top contributors to fun and great results. We can let the children lead us at the same time we can suggest ideas so they want to participate.

Truly all of life is a game. Call to let us help you explore the possibilities. You’re it.

High School Seniors

Friends, locations and preparedness are the best contributors to fun and great results.

Friends are included in sessions at Steven Michael’s for no extra charge (for the first one). This is someone you can truly feel comfortable with, and that’s fun.

Planning for a trip to a favorite spot (available with our four-hour session) can give you images that no one else can have. No rubber stamp pictures.

Bringing anything and everything that you might possibly put in a picture opens doors for creativity and fun. Seniors often judge their stuff based on a narrow point of view and experience. We can help get you past that. You will probably be surprised.   Call and ask us about our tips sheet.

Couples Portraits

Get away! Getting away from plain studio couples pictures is obviously more fun. Consider getting away from the studio and the studio property. Pick a romantic quiet place or a serene garden setting. Pack a picnic snack, bring a blanket and let Steven do covert photography while you lounge together under a big tree. Visit a peaceful creek or a bluff at sunset. Dream it and let’s do it. Call me.
